September 2010:

WestCare
Website

Uplifting the human spirit is a lofty statement for any organization to promote as their objective, especially given the challenging world we live in today.” Taken right from the WestCare website, this isn’t just a statement, it’s a promise which can be felt and seen in the communities served by the WestCare organization.

Here in Fresno, WestCare oversees the Alpha Zeta Phi program which is a transitional living facility for pregnant or parenting youth who are homeless or runaway. The program houses women and children for up to 18 months. The women are required to complete their secondary education and participate in parenting and basic life skills classes. The goal of this program is to see young women depart the program with permanent residence, employment, and skills to be a good provider for their children.

WestCare’s Home Front Home transitional living program located at Orange and Eugenia in Calwa offers services to underserved female veterans and their children for up to two years. Experienced personnel provide gender-specific services to military women affected by trauma, substance abuse, dual disorders and homelessness. The goal is to assist veterans to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
